Privacy Policy

Last updated: January 2025

This Privacy Policy sets out how Ancient Ways treats information when you visit our hall and play the three games we host. By using the site, you consent to what is written below.

In the old ways the first lesson was: take only what you need. This document is that lesson applied to data.

What we choose not to gather

Nothing in the hall requires you to enrol, submit an email, disclose a name, or provide any personal detail. There is no membership scroll, no lantern-list. We do not ask for your date of birth, your address, or a telephone number, because none of these are needed for the games to work.

Small tokens kept on your own device

Some games keep small tokens locally through your browser's built-in storage — a high score, an audio preference, a marker so the game may continue where you paused. These tokens remain on your device and never travel to us. Clearing site data through the browser removes them completely, whenever you wish.

The unavoidable footprints of any visitor

When any browser meets any web server, a modest handshake occurs — the visitor's IP address, browser and device type, referring page, and requested resource. Our hosting layer may keep these footprints for operational and security purposes, in the manner that virtually every hosted site does. The footprints are not tied to a person and are not used to build any profile.

Cookies

We do not use advertising cookies, behavioural tracking pixels, or third-party marketing beacons. Any cookie or storage key present here is functional and exists only so that a specific game may remember a specific small thing.

Outside the hall

The three games are self-contained. They do not embed social widgets, analytics services, or advertising networks. Some pages may load public web fonts to preserve the visual character of the hall; those requests are transparent to the font provider and carry no personal information from us.

Younger disciples

The hall is open to a general audience, including younger players. Because personal information is knowingly collected from no visitor, none is knowingly collected from minors. Any locally saved progress may be removed by clearing site data through the browser.

Keeping the hall in order

Since no personal data is held on our servers, there is very little at risk to begin with. Where the browser and network permit, the site is served over an encrypted connection.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over any personal data a service holds about you. Ancient Ways holds none of yours, so those rights are respected by default. Locally saved progress on your device remains under your control at all times.

When this policy is rewritten

This Privacy Policy may be updated as the hall changes, as a new game is added, or as applicable law changes. The "Last updated" date at the top of the page marks each revision. Continued use of the site after a revision means you have accepted the updated version.

Speaking with us

Ancient Ways is a small independent project and does not maintain a general public contact channel through this policy. Where an individual game offers a feedback mechanism, that mechanism is described inside the game itself and follows the same discipline of taking only what is necessary.
